Welcome to the gallery and studio space of acclaimed artist and sculptor, Karl Lagasse. Lagasse gained notoriety for his “One Dollar” sculptures in 2009, when he was also ranked among the top ten sculptors under 30 in the world by Artprice. Lagasse’s new gallery will showcase his contemporary sculptures and paintings for those seeking to add one-of-a-kind pieces to their art collection.
Born into a family of artists in Paris, Lagasse began his creative journey at the age of seven with collages and was inspired to pursue an artistic path after meeting French sculptor César Badaccini at this young age. Later on, Lagasse explored another means of expression by creating numerous pieces of graffiti in Paris, however collages remained his true passion. Under the guidance of artist Yvaral Vasarely, Lagasse incorporated his tags into his collages and organized his first exhibition in 2003 in Paris, followed by his first solo show in 2006 in Brussels, where he presented his “Buildings” sculptures.
Within the next three years, Lagasse was named one of the top 10 sculptors under 30 in the world by Artprice and was recognized for his iconic “One Dollar” sculptures. In recent years, Lagasse’s work has been exhibited worldwide, receiving international press for exhibitions and eye-catching collaborations such as his work with Italian luxury vehicle manufacturer Maserati for its 100th anniversary and launch of the new Ghibli car model, as well as an installation called “A Piece of Heaven on Earth,” presented at the 2015 Art Paris Art Fair; a monumental sculpture commissioned by the 65th Cannes Film Festival; and his work designing trophies for the annual Deauville American Film Festival since 2017, which have been received by actors like Morgan Freeman, Johnny Depp, Laura Dern, and more.
